| Just replaced IACV on my 2001 Nissan Maxima SE at a local Nissan service dept. Car was stalling (shutting off immediately after starting it). The problem did not go away after the IACV was replaced. The only way to keep the engine on is to tap the gas (lightly) and rev the RPM and then take my foot off the gas and it will stay on. Idle is erratic. Idles at 750 RPM. 1100 RPM. It varies. Vehicle even felt like it was about to start moving on its own a couple of times!
The Nissan tech advised to drive it this way (I expect to be able to start my car without it dying immediately so I disagree with the tech) and I feel like the IACV replacement did not repair the issue. The tech insisted it was broken and it had to be replaced. That was last week. Today, I ran a code at Advanced Auto parts and three of my oxygen sensors are out PO135, PO141, and PO155. I also got another code: PO505 stating the idle control system was malfunctioning. This is AFTER the IACV has been replaced. The Max runs and drives well (idle does vary but still runs normally) Oil pressure is excellent. Trans shifts smoothly. I'm in the Orlando area and I want this issue resolved ASAP! Did I get a defective IACV from Nissan or is does the TPS need an adjustment (the tech thinks the TPS was adjusted improperly) or another cause is the culprit? If you are in this area, I would love to meet you and get this fixed properly as I am not mechanically inclined and need a reliable car. Thank you |
